I'm Jason and I like clay. I especially enjoy making clay look like whimsical creatures! Even more than that, I love to share that enjoyment with others and seeing what they make. The ability to take a formless lump and make a beautiful piece of art from it will never cease to delight me, and I just want to share that with as many people as possible.

Laura is a ray of light personified and has been making friends across Denver since the '80s, and it's no understatement to say she's directly responsible for bringing clayoss to life in countless ways. She's also started to handbuild recently and is really making me scared for my job
Placeholder text while Mar writes their own bio blurb:
That's Mar, my lesbian lifemate, the bird to my rhino. They're a dynamo on the pottery wheel, and the person who gave me my first lessons as an adult. Fittingly, we met in a pottery studio and quickly became the closest of friends. We have a shared passion for creating art, and sharing that creativity with others.
Please reach us at contact@clayoss.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We're a new pottery studio- one for you! We're passionate about creating a welcoming, safe, and comfortable Third Space for anyone who wants to create with clay. We offer classes, memberships, walk-ins, and more!
We plan to open in early 2025 with a soft opening to the neighborhood while we put final touches in the studio for our grand opening in early spring (hopefully sooner!).
Once we're open, studio hours will be 11-8 pm, Tuesday-Sunday. On Monday we will be closed to the public for Member Mondays.
You can find us at 1227 E. 17th Avenue, in the EZE MOP Building. We share a building with the amazing Revolte Goods and Babylon Floral- come check us out! Look for the big yellow sign.
Let me answer your question with a question of my own: Did you know pottery is one of the oldest traditions in the world? So old, in fact, that the earliest recorded use of the wheel was a potter's wheel, over 5,000 years ago! My introduction to making with clay came when my cool granny gave her young grandchildren a lesson in handbuilding many years ago. It would take more than 3 decades before I was able to fully appreciate that simple lesson. Now, stepping into thousands of years of tradition like a rhino in a pottery shop, I'm here to make my forebears shake their heads in utter confusion.
See above!
Doing pretty well, thanks for asking. How are you?
clay-oss. Like chaos but with clay. But also spelled different. Just say it out loud
We have street parking, but there's usually something available nearby!
Definitely! Taking a class is the right thing to do in your case, so be sure to sign up for an account to be notified when classes start.
While we would love to offer walk-in wheel throwing to everyone, there are some factors to consider. First, throwing pottery is hard! Do you have recent experience on a pottery wheel? If you're confident in your ability to work unguided, then we'd love to have you. Stop in to get acquainted with the layout of the studio and how we work to see if it's a good fit for your needs!
No charge for time! Please just remember that we are in a small space with limited seats. If you've been working on your piece for six hours and there's a line out the door, consider letting others have their time. We recommend making a reservation to ensure you have a spot. Reservations are quick and easy to make in the user dashboard.
As great as they are, have you ever noticed how children can sometimes be destructive? We're in a small space with extremely fragile objects. For this reason, we will only allow children 12 and up. If you have young kids and are looking to make some pottery, we can recommend some great places nearby!
